Handcrafted wooden & carved signs

Handcrafted timber signs — carved, engraved, gilded or painted — for homes, pubs, cafés and estates.

Made to order · price on enquiry

This is where our two crafts meet. We cut, carve, engrave and gild signs from solid hardwoods and reclaimed timber — house names, pub and café signs, menu boards, wayfinding for estates and gardens, and laser-cut logo features for interiors.

Each sign is finished with exterior-grade oils or paints suited to the Irish climate, and can be paired with hand-painted lettering or real gold leaf for a heritage look.

Standards & certifications

Responsibly sourced timber

We buy timber and panels from established merchants operating under EU timber legislation, and can specify chain-of-custody certified, sustainably managed timber on request.

Planning permission for signs

Many signs — especially illuminated, projecting or large fascia signs, and any sign on a protected structure or in an Architectural Conservation Area — need planning permission. We check what applies to your building and prepare drawings for Dublin City Council, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal, South Dublin and neighbouring councils.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which timber lasts best outdoors?

Dense hardwoods such as oak and iroko, and modern modified timbers, perform best in Irish weather. We seal every sign with exterior-grade finishes and recommend a light re-oil every year or two.

Can you make a sign from my own reclaimed wood?

Often, yes — send us photos of the timber and we’ll let you know if it’s sound enough to carve or engrave.

Do you offer real gold leaf?

Yes — traditional gilded lettering suits heritage shopfronts, pubs and house signs. Painted and metallic-effect options are available for smaller budgets.
