Signage artwork checklist for Dublin businesses

Get your sign ready for production: logo files, colours, lettering, dimensions, lighting and installation details to send Texture Dublin’s signage specialist.

Good production files make it easier to turn a brand into a physical sign. Texture Dublin’s signage specialist handles sign production and installation, while Ali Onder coordinates your enquiry. Use this checklist before sending a shop fascia, LED lettering or window graphic brief.

Gather the original files

A vector logo is usually the most useful starting point for lettering and cut shapes. Supply the original artwork where possible, with text outlined or the appropriate licensed fonts available. Keep any placed photographs or raster graphics at a resolution suitable for the proposed size. A screenshot of a logo is useful for reference but may need to be recreated for manufacture.

Send both the production file and a simple PDF or image showing how it should look. Tell us which version of the logo is current, rather than sending several unnamed variations. Artwork preparation can then be included in the scope if required.

Define colour and materials

Provide existing brand references, including any specified paint, vinyl or print colours. A colour on a phone screen is not a physical material sample. Painted surfaces, printed vinyl, acrylic and illuminated faces can look different even when based on the same artwork.

Ask to agree the proposed material and finish before production. Indoor signs and exterior signage face different conditions; the specialist will need to understand where the sign will be used and how it will be maintained.

Design at the scale people will see

Share the available fascia dimensions and photographs from typical viewing positions. Consider the business name, necessary supporting wording and how much information can be read comfortably at that distance. A full brand lock-up may need a simpler version for a narrow fascia or small projecting sign.

Window graphics need the dimensions of each pane, the intended viewing side and the balance between privacy, daylight and visibility. Mention obstructions, handles, mullions and existing films.

Confirm lighting and installation details

For LED signs, say whether you want a glowing face, a halo effect or another appearance. Identify the intended power location and who is responsible for electrical work. Ask how the sign can be accessed for future maintenance.

Provide the address, installation height, surface condition and access restrictions. Landlord approval, planning requirements and any public-space permissions should be checked before manufacture. The signage quotation can then identify artwork, fabrication, installation and any separate responsibilities.
